Sharing USB devices between a laptop and VM

Background:

We have a windows 2016 server host running Hyper-V. We have multiple VM's built in the Hyper-V VM Manager on this host. I connect to the nested VM directly from my laptop with RDP. I need to make a USB device plugged into my laptop be seen by the VM I am connected to. The caveat is it is not a drive and needs to be recognized in the VM OS as an attached USB device not a drive.

I have Enhanced Session Mode enable on the Hype-V Manager.

When I connect to the VM workstation using RDP I have all the resources allowed to be accessed.

When I log into the VM the USB device is not available in the VM. Even if I connect an external drive it is not available in the VM.

Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
