autopilot profile re-assignment procedure

i have different profile for HAAD and HAAD through VPN(with AD skip). one test machine is provisioned using the normal HAAD profile and provisioned with the hostname as W7A8B7C6D5E4321. the same name is populated at associated Azure AD device and associated Intune device for the test devices serial number property. i had deleted the intune id for the device from intune and manually reset the device, but not touched the hash entry for the device. so this serial number's associated Azure AD device still remains as W7A8B7C6D5E4321. i updated the group tag to something different and created a separate dynamic device group and assigned HAAD through VPN profile. however the profile does not identify this device to assign the new profile. is there a way to fix this and reassign the second profile to this device.

reimported device has freshly to solve this, not sure if there is another way around

How about using Wipe actions? The Wipe action restores a device to its factory default settings. The user data is kept if you choose the Retain enrollment state and user account checkbox. Otherwise, all data, apps, and settings will be removed. The autopilot profile will be assigned during the OOBE stage. Therefore, I think wiping and re-enrolling the device will be the better practice to re-assign profile for HAAD device.

not sure if i would be able to try this as i have already deleted the Intune entry and manually reset the device. is there a way to manually force profile reassignment?
