CMG Connection Point goes into Disconnected Status

Hi,

I am seeing a peculiar issue where the CMG connection point goes offline and in a Disconnected status by itself. The CMG was up for like 3 hours and it worked fine as I was able install apps and updates on an internet device as part of testing. Then suddenly the connection point went offline. There are no errors in the proxy connector log, but has some intense processing going on of client requests that are being forwarded to the internal MP over 443 and SUP. Connections to CMG service are getting parked. I have got the TCP-TLS port 10140 opened, but that has not made any difference. Has anybody experienced this before? I don’t want to just re-configure the CMG connection point as I feel this doesn’t address the underlying problem. We are running CB 2002 with latest hotfix.

what does the cloudmgr.log,SMS_Cloud_ProxyConnector.log for CMG status? Did you try the connection analyzer for CMG?

CMG logs https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/plan-design/hierarchy/log-files#cloud-management-gateway

The CMG connection point eventually changed to ‘Connected’ state. Most likely this was after the TCP port 10140 was opened in FW. However, I see no reference of TCP port being used in Proxy connector log. Is there anybody who has experienced this? Is this a bug in CB 2002?

The logs will track the information about the port issue. Incase the log is overwritten, you can check the log with old time stamp(_.lo or something).
No, this is not bug and it must be the port connectivity issues which usually track in the log.

There were no errors in the logs as stated earlier. There was no reference to the TCP port in the running and rolled over logs while the connection point remained disconnected. Both 10140 and 443 are supported and while 10140 is preferred, 443 should still work. However, this was not the case here and it appeared that 443 got overwhelmed with a backlog of other traffic requests. There was no free session available for CMG connection point to open a session with CMG service. Only after opening 10140, things started to work and 24 hrs later I saw the reference to the TCP port in the log.

If this is by design, then I MS really need to update their documentation.
