Based on my understanding of the issue, it appears that you're engaged in the following Learning Path task:
- Topic: AZ-900
- Learning Path: Azure Fundamentals: Describe Azure architecture and services
- Module: Describe Azure compute and networking services
- Unit: 3 of 14 Exercise - Create an Azure Virtual Machine
As stated in the exercise, I've made multiple attempts to replicate the problem, yet regrettably, we haven't been successful in reproducing it.
We kindly urge you to refer to a related discussion thread (by kobulloc-MSFT). Here's a condensed of the steps mentioned there:
- Log in to your Microsoft Learn account using a new private browsing window.
- If the issue persists beyond step 1, clear your browser's cache and cookies, or log in using a new incognito window.
If the issue still persists, please don’t hesitate to inform us, we are happy to help you.

2024-04-04T06:41:50.4+00:00 Hi Matias,
Thanks for reaching out to us on Microsoft Q&A forum.
There is an issue with the resource group name not updating properly. Please follow the instructions below to complete the exercise.
Please navigate to Exercise - Configure network access, activate sandbox, review permissions, accept, etc. When you see Welcome to Azure Cloud Shell message appears on right, click the Unit 9 of 14 dropdown at the top to navigate back to Unit 8- Describe Azure Virtual Networking.
Verify in the code blocks that the resource group name as changed to something similar to "learn-2418d3dd-803a-405e-9d00-3e58e4951bee" instead of [sandbox resource group name].
Below is the screenshot for reference.
We have tried from our end and completed the exercise successfully.
Note: In case it has been over an hour since you finished the prerequisite, specifically unit-3: Exercise - Create an Azure Virtual Machine, your VM will have been automatically removed, leading to an error in Task 1, Step 2. Ensure you fulfill the prerequisite to establish a virtual machine in unit-3 before commencing the unit-9, making sure it's completed within the Sandbox timeframe.
If your problem persists, please don't hesitate to contact us along with the screenshot, and we will be happy to provide further assistance.
