@zwickl AFAIK you have to reinstall the Gateway targeting the ideal region or open a support case. I'll confirm with the Gateway team and post an answer soon.
Hello @zwickl - I have confirmed with the Gateway team that there's currently no other way of changing an existing selection of a region without re-installing the Gateway. You don't necessarily need to do a complete uninstall if you do the following:
Navigate to: C:\Users\PBIEgwService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\On-premises data gateway
And deleting the Gateway.bin file, and then restarting this service in task manager:

And then opening up the Gateway app from the Start menu.
Hope this helps, @zwickl! Please let us know if you had any further questions.
Hi @MikeUrnun - Thanks for your reply. I followed your instructions - delete .bin file, restart service, start Gateway app and I still have no option to set the Region on the config screen. I also tried an uninstall from Control Panel - Programs and Features and ran the install app again. Same results - no option to set the Region. Any other suggestions?
@zwickl If the shortcut steps above didn't work, I would go for the complete uninstall and reinstall again.
@MikeUrnun - I did a complete uninstall from Control Panel - Programs & Features and ran the install app again. Sames results - no option to set the Region.
same, also having this problem and cannot work out how to change the region - did you work this out?
Hi, yes, I did eventually get this resolved. I ended up creating a Azure ticket. After waiting several days for MS to respond, I tried reinstalling the Gateway and the option to change the region re-appeared. I'm unsure why the re-install finally worked or if MS did something in the background and did not inform me.
In looking back through the email chain with MS, it's possible that the server was restarted during that time period during a maintenance window which may have cause the install to work correctly. Just a thought.
Hope this helps.
thanks for responding. I actually just resolved this myself earlier by uninstalling and ensuring all traces of the gateway were gone from the system including %localappdata%, %programdata% and importantly I removed the service profile from c:\windows\serviceprofiles (which I actually think did the trick)
Same problem here. I've restarted the machine. I've deleted everything I could find in localappdata, programdata and c:\windows\serviceprofiles - although I have nothing there. And nothing has worked. It will not give me the option to create in a different region.
Navigate to C:\Users\PBIEgwService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\On-premises data gateway - done
Delete gateway.bin - there is no gateway.bin, but I've deleted everything in the folder
Open gateway app - no difference.
