We want to publish our game without concept approval, as written in the documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/gaming/concept-approval

  1. Which product option should we choose?
  2. If we choose MSIX, there is no Game category in the properties no matter what we do. Although it is written that it should be there.
  3. If we choose a Game type product, do we need to connect the Live program via a letter if we don't use it?
  4. Do we have to write a letter to go through xbox certification?
  5. Why it doesn't say anything about games: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/publish/publish-your-app/upload-app-packages?pivots=store-installer-msix ? There is a document like this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/gaming/gdk/_content/gc/live/get-started/live-setup-partner-center-partners, but it only applies to managed partners, as I understand it.

You also don't need concept approval if you're developing a UWP game for Windows desktop or mobile devices (or if you're publishing a UWP app that's not a game, targeting any device). All you need is to sign up as a developer, and you can freely configure and submit your app to the Store through Partner Center.

Here's a quote from the documentation. We want to publish the game to Microsoft Sore for dextop only.

As described in the concept approval article,

You don't need to go through this process if you join the Xbox Live Creators Program and make a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) game, which you can then self-publish to Xbox.

This means you can select "Game", "do not create in sandbox" and fill out the forms, then click Xbox Live Creators program and select Enable.

Xbox Live Creators program does not require concept approval and is free for people already signed up for app publishing program.

I am in a similar position, but in my case I would like to be able to download and test the game from the sandbox environment before submitting for concept approval.

    How do I download it?

When using the link shown in "Pricing and Availability", the game page is not loaded and instead it says: "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found."

    Please help!
