Shell script document language in ADS

Hello,

I am using ADS on Windows and Mac.

I wanted to write something in bash.

I was looking for for tool that could help me with syntax and etc.

I found VS Code extension ShellChecker.

I installed it but it does not work as expected.

The issue is that it does not recognize the bash shell. I see this Warning:

# Warnings
 Document is not a shell script or is filtered out
--	
On VS Code forum they said that correct document language is 'Shell Script'. I don't see it in my ADS.
Question: 
1. How could I get 'Shell script' document language in ADS?
2. What extension would you recommend using in ADS for writing bash script?

As I understand, you want shell script language helper extension in ADS.

Kindly install any of the suitable extensions as VSIX file into ADS and should work.

Let us know what your requirement and what is not getting displayed in the ADS terminal.

Screenshots should help.

i already installed this extension

The issue is that it doesn’t work.

Likely it doesn’t work because ADS doesn’t have shell script language

Hence the first step should be to enable shell script documents language

is it possible?

This extension is installed. It simply does not work 'as expected'.

I could use it from Web and it is nice and help in syntax and etc.

In my case when I try to use it ... I've got this error:

i asked on VS Code forum and they suggested first to enable ‘shell script' language in ADS. Do we have an option for it? Maybe some extension could do it?

On my another MacBook where I have VS Studio ... I installed this extension ShellCheck. It worked perfectly fine. In this VS Code I see this Language 'Shell Script'

I assume that if I would be able to install/enable 'Shell Script' in ADS ... I will be OK,

Any suggestions?

Shellscript is not a language option in Azure Data Studio at this time, please create an item on the Azure Data Studio GitHub repository.

I opened a request on GitHub. They Closed it ... claiming 'not enough' details. I opened another one and provided more details. Hope it'll work. Thanks for your help
