Hello,

I'm trying to deploy a Standard_NC24ads_A100_v4 vm with a Windows DSVM image but I always end up in a failed state.
According to this page https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/nc-a100-v4-series Windows VM are supported but both the DSVM images with Windows server do not work out for me.
The error that is shown me is the following:

> The selected VM size 'Standard_NC24ads_A100_v4' cannot boot Hypervisor Generation '1'. If this was a Create operation please check that the Hypervisor Generation of the Image matches the Hypervisor Generation of the selected VM Size. If this was an Update operation please select a Hypervisor Generation '1' VM Size. For more information, see https://aka.ms/azuregen2vm

Am I missing some steps?

Thanks for the support,

Riccardo

    Hi Riccardo,

According to the DSVM Windows 2019 documentation page, currently Gen2 SKUs are not supported. Standard_NC24ads_A100_v4 only supports Gen2, so you can't use Windows DSVM image, since both the Windows Server 2019 and 2022 images are Gen1.

Please try Data Science Virtual Machine - Ubuntu 20.04 instead since it is Gen2.
