Hello, @YAY !
Why am I unable to deploy B2pts v2 or B2ats v2 VMs on my Student or Free Azure subscription?
YAY, thank you very much for providing such detailed screenshots and information. I'm following up with the virtual machine team to determine what is causing this and will update this thread as soon as I learn more.
Update 5/1/24: A fix is being deployed to address the quota limitation on impacted subscriptions. The quota update will start in 1 week, followed by 1 month of global deployment.
Update 3/24/24: The source of the issue has been identified and the virtual machine team is following up on resolving this for student subscriptions (for the time being, you will have to use a B1s VM).
Update 12/5/23: The virtual machine team is working on resolving this issue with plans to release an update with a fix on or shortly after January 24th.
Update 11/30/23: Thank you again for your report! We have identified an issue on our end that is causing this and we are currently working on a resolution.
B2pts v2 and B2ats v2 join B1s VMs as part of the free services available for the first 12 months for new customers when using Azure Free and Student subscriptions. This is a relatively recent addition but we've started receiving reports that the new B2pts v2 and B2ats VM sizes are not available for some people who are using Free or Student subscriptions.
Temporary workarounds:
- Try deploying a B1s for the time being, as this is the VM that has traditionally been offered with these subscription types.
- While you shouldn't need to submit a quota increase, there are two types of vCPU quota increases for VMs that are enforced at two tiers:
Current Azure for students offer includes 750 hours each of B1s, B2pts v2 (Arm-based), and B2ats v2 (AMD-based) burstable VMs:
