Hi, Recently I saw free b2ats_v2 and b2pts_v2 in free service page. However, there is zero quota in my student subscription for both b2ats_v2 and b2pts_v2. I also cannot ask support to increase quota because my subscription is not eligible to do so. Is there another way to increase quota for these free service?

Update 5/1/24: A fix is being deployed to address the quota limitation on impacted subscriptions. The quota update will start in 1 week, followed by 1 month of global deployment. Update 3/24/24: The source of the issue has been identified and the virtual machine team is following up on resolving this for student subscriptions (for the time being, you will have to use a B1s VM). Update 12/5/23: The virtual machine team is working on resolving this issue with plans to release an update with a fix on or shortly after January 24th. B2pts v2 and B2ats v2 join B1s VMs as part of the free services available for the first 12 months for new customers when using Azure Free and Student subscriptions. This is a relatively recent addition but we've started receiving reports that the new B2pts v2 and B2ats VM sizes are not available for some people who are using Free or Student subscriptions. Temporary workarounds: Try deploying a B1s for the time being, as this is the VM that has traditionally been offered with these subscription types. While you shouldn't need to submit a quota increase, there are two types of vCPU quota increases for VMs that are enforced at two tiers: Regional : The first tier is the total regional vCPU quota. Can you confirm which Azure students offer you have (ex: Azure for Students, Microsoft Azure for Students Starter)?

Are you able to deploy any VMs (like a B1s)?

If you have upgraded to a paid subscription, have you had any issues deploying either b2ats_v2 or b2pts_v2 on the paid subscription?

I do confirm that I have Azure for Student Subscription (Not Azure for Student Starter) because I have $100 credit which I'm pretty sure that Starter doesn't have.

Yes, I can deploy B1s VM. I have used 2 cores until now, 1 for each VM.

I haven't upgraded to the paid plan yet unfortunately.

Hello, @YAY ! Thank you again for reporting this. So far we only have your report so hopefully we'll get some additional reports to help with visibility.

This is a known issue that is being worked on by the virtual machine team that affects b2ats_v2 and b2pts_v2 VM types on Azure for Students subscriptions.

Pay as you go subscriptions are not affected, so as a temporary workaround you can use other subscription types if there is a pressing or urgent need for b2ats_v2 and b2pts_v2 VMs.

There is a currently a high priority fix being worked on so the hope was that we could escalate the priority with more reports like yours. Following the recent updates, I can now see the B2ats_v2 virtual machine, and the system indicates eligibility for free trial services. However, when attempting to change the size of an existing virtual machine, the option for B2ats is not available. Furthermore, when trying to request quota, the system shows no available quota, and submitting a support ticket results in an error, preventing successful submission.

Same situation here. Standard Basv2 Family vCPUs have a family quota (not regional quota) of 0. Requesting for more quota retuned unsuccessful, and the "create support request" option does not work either.

I tried to create a support ticket from "Dashboard -> Support + troubleshooting -> Create a support request", choose "Service and subscription limits (quotas)" as Issue type, and was rejected from even moving forward with the request as "Your subscription isn't eligible for a quota increase. To request a quota increase, first upgrade to a Pay-As-You-Go subscription.". I kind of suspect this could be a reason why the self-service quota increase request doesn't work earlier. But ultimately it still requires a fix from the Azure team to address the 0 quota issue.

While I much appreciate the free services that Azure has provided to us students, it has been 2 months after the promised deadline to fix after all. Hopefully an actually working fix will be rolled out soon.
