Windows autopilot devices with user without intune license

What will happen to a device that is on the autopilot list if the user who works on this device has a license for Intune taken away? in the tenant, not all users have an intune license, I’m trying to figure out what will happen if all devices are on autopilot?

    If licenses is taken away after user had started to use that device, I believe the communication will the drop and eventually, later user might not be even sign-in to a device. Autopilot is only an enrollment technique to a tenant, but autopilot will not work if user trying to enroll the device, is missing license.
