Internet access for Load Balancer

Hi,

If I add two servers into the backend pool of the Azure load balancer, the Internet stops working on both machines.

I have to remove either of the servers to restore the Internet. what may be the reason?

    Thank you for reaching and apologies for the delayed response here.

    Based on your question above.

    As you are using Basic Load Balancer, outbound rules cannot be configured as they are not supported for Basic SKU. This is currently documented here.

    For the virtual machines added as a backend pool of the Basic Load Balancer. the outbound access is granted by Default outbound access in Azure.

    Regarding the connectivity issue above

    • Please check if any NSG is blocking the connectivity and create required rules to allow inbound and outbound connectivity.
    • Follow the troubleshooting steps here to check internet connectivity from the VM.

    Your comment helped troubleshoot the issue.

    Internet access has been restored by adding the virtual machine to the backend pool of the load balancer via IP instead of NIC.
