Can we deallocate a VM for 3 days and then allocate again and it will run fine?

Is there any cost involved with deallocation?

    Hi @Arcadix Info,

is your question related to Azure Virtual Machines or VMs running on Azure VMware Solutions?

If your question is related to Azure Virtual Machines:

    • There are no costs for deallocating (stopping) or starting Azure VMs.
    • If you stop/deallocate an Azure VM it's the same like you shutdown an on-premises computer. After the start it will be up and running.

    Related to the cost savings:

    • If an Azure VM is in deallocated state you won't be charged for the compute resource.
    • You will be charged for the disk resource(s), for instance the OS disk and data disk(s), all the time. It doesn't matter if the Azure VM is running or deallocated. The reason behind: The disk is using resources in the Azure datacenter, no matter if the VM is running or deallocated.
