MAUI .net 8 app can't get past splash screen on Android

Hi I am trying to run a new .net MAUI project on Android, it doesn't get past the splash screen and is stuck there. how to fix this?

To provide more clarity, the code flows into the ViewModel, which is supposed to be called first (OnboardingViewModel), but on Android, nothing is displayed except the splash screen. On iOS, there are no issues; however, the app starts correctly.
I've already followed the procedure for adding a splash screen that was sent earlier, but it doesn't change anything.
I'm using Visual Studio v17.8.5 / Maui v8.0.3 / .NET v8.0.101 / Android target framework 21.

· What exactly is failing (which line of code) and in what way is it failing?
· What behavior do you expect, and how is that different from the actual behavior?
