Microsoft AutoUpdate claims "Update required" to update my Office Home & Business 2021 software

Two years ago I bought a lifetime license for Microsoft Office Home & Business 2021 for Mac. I recently used Microsoft AutoUpdate to try updating my suite of software. All parts of the suite (eg Word, Excel) are on v. 16.79. I'm now getting an error message in AutoUpdate that says "An upgrade is required to receive updates for some applications." When I click the "Learn more" link, I'm taken to a webpage that says support for Office 2019 has expired as it is now 5 years old. However, I have Office 2021, which is only 3 years old. How can I fix this so that I continue getting software updates for 2 more years?

If it helps diagnose, I am on a MacBook Air M2 from 2022 laptop running OS Ventura 13.2.1.

Thank you!

    Hi,

Did you have other Office versions for Mac before?

I suggest you refer to this support article and remove license first:

Then re-activate Office for Mac and try to update.
