Two different tenants with same credentials witheld me to login into Azure subscription

Dear community,

I was able to succesfully login into an Azure subscription, including a Data Factory and SQL Server amongst others. Two days ago I created a Microsoft Fabric-account for PowerBI. I used the same credentials as for Azure, as for the assumption they would sync. They didn't.

Now when I login to Azure, it has no subcription, apps or data in it. What I saw is that this is due to it being a different tenant. I tried to remove the PowerBI tenant, which only was an option when I removed my whole Microsoft-account (which I don't want, because Azure subscription is tied to it).

So in summary I have two different tenants, one login, and unable to login to my original Azure subscription. So either;

(1) I hope to delete the Fabric-account (there is almost no information in it and certainly no important information) or;

(2) Sync both accounts

With my aimed result being able to login again in my Azure-account.

ps. I have written down, besides my login, subscriptionID, Directory (and for the SQL Server) Entra Admin, Server Admin and Server Name.

I hope one you can help me out.

Kind Regards,

Bart Breekveldt

    Hi ,

    Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

    (1) I hope to delete the Fabric-account (there is almost no information in it and certainly no important information);

    this would be the best option, if you don't have any data you can go ahead and delete. Remember, azure subscription/account has nothing to do with Microsoft fabric account. Fabric is completely isolated and individual ecosystem. In fact you can utilize the ADF, Synapse or PBI from within the fabric workspace and no need to create them separately with azure subs.

    Greetings, Groetjes, @Bart Breekveldt

    Here are the steps you can take for each of your options:

    Option 1: Delete the Fabric-account You can delete your Power BI account by following these steps:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/enterprise/service-admin-closing-your-account

    Option 2: Sync both accounts: To sync both accounts, you should keep Power BI and Azure on the same tenant. You should create your Power BI environment using an account which belongs to your Azure tenant.

    Read more here : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-azure-and-power-bi

    Please note that these actions may have significant effects on your accounts and data.
