Teams Access Restricted Error

I downloaded the latest Teams client for linux but when I tried to login it says:

"We're still developing Teams for Linux
But if you'd like to join our small group of early adopters, select the button below and we'll put you on the list."

If I click on:
"I'm interested in using Teams"

It takes me here where it says teams should be open for everyone to use:

https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16911565-linux-client

Am I missing something?

Well, I read everyone of the posts from Linux users and did not see a solid solution to the issue we are all experiencing. For reference, I installed the .deb package on my

Linux Mint 19 x64 Linux Kernel 4.15.0.

Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you

I too have the same error and can no longer communicate with my customers. It was previously working fine, thank you Microsoft.

Hi Jim-9915!
What is your Linux OS version?
Based on my knowledge, Teams for Linux can support the following Linux OS version:
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Fedora 30 Workstation
RHEL 8 Workstation
CentOS 8

I am running on CentOS 7. The RPM installs fine and I am able to login to teams, but after that I get the error that Teams for Linux is still being developed and that I need to join the early adopters list.

Thank you for trying Teams for Linux and for sharing your feedback @Jim-9915 . Would you mind going to https://admin.microsoft.com and creating a support request so our team can contact you? We will need to get logs from your machine to see what's going on.

Could you explain how I can open a support request as you described above? When I go to https://admin.microsoft.com it just takes me to my office apps. Thanks!

Could anyone provide help with this? I would really like to get the Linux client working. Thanks!

Hi @Jim-9915 - Support requests can be opened by an administrator following the process outlined here. It looks like you don't have admin access on your tenant which is why it is redirecting you to the Office apps page. Please reach out to your admin and ask them to open a support request with Microsoft on your behalf so that the support team can take a look at the issue.

Hi,

I am having the exact same issue on my RHEL 8 laptop. After I get signed in, the Teams application presents with a screen that says "We're still developing Teams for LInux". The title bar reads "Microsoft Teams - Access restricted".

This is really important for my work from home. I tested last week and it worked fine on my RHEL 7 systems.

I need this to work from my RHEL 8 laptop.

Thanks,
Brian

Same issue here, only sporadically. It worked for about a day three weeks ago, then I got the "Access Restricted Error." Last week I was able to use the Insiders, and it worked great. Yesterday midday, I ran into problems, logged out, but then when I tried to log back in got the same error. I didn't change anything on my computer, so not sure what happened. The only issue I can see in the logs is this: "error -- preload: loading HID module failed "

So, @OmarKhalidMSFT , in essence the Admin of our enterprise installation of Teams has to tick a box in settings that says "allow access from Linux OS remote clients"?

Also on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with the Microsoft Teams for Linux on teams/stable,now 1.3.00.5153 amd64 [installed] desktop version, we are seeing the same issue where it looks like something possibly with the organizations 2 Factor Authentication possibly with Office 365. The app was working perfectly fine last month for a while and then just stopped working with the "Microsoft Teams - Access Restricted" even on this latest stable release. Any clues?

https://admin.microsoft.com/Adminportal/Home gives me an "You don’t have
permission to access this page or perform this action." to post a support ticket.

Unfortunately, my admins do not support the desktop client (on any distro) so are unwilling/unable to put in the support ticket. Out of curiosity, are you using the Microsoft Sign-in Verification phone call, or trying to use a PIV/smart card? As noted, the only error I can see in my log file is about the HID module.

I have the same issue on my desktop running KDE Neon (Ubuntu 18.04 based); both Teams and Teams-Insiders show the "We're still developing Teams for Linux" page. However, Teams is working properly on my laptop - which is also running KDE Neon.
