Microsoft Exchange mailbox database copy status healthy but get-cluster node status showing DOWN

We have a DAG with 3 nodes, after we performed windows update and rebooted all the Exchange servers. There are 2 nodes showing "Down" when we run get-clusternode cmdlet. The mailbox database copy status for all the mailbox servers are showing Healthy/Mounted. However we are unable to do any switchover/mount the database copies on the nodes that are showing down in failover cluster.

There is no firewall in between and the OS internal firewall has been turned off. Other than re-creating the DAG is there anyways then can overcome this?

Any idea guys?

Hi there,

Sorry for the late respond. After troubleshooting on these servers for few weeks, I've found out the root cause was due to the Antivirus firewall blockage. After disabling the antivirus issue resolved immediately.

Thanks for the assistance.

What does
test-replicationhealth
show?

Is the cluster service started on those servers?

Can you simply bring the cluster node up?

Hi Andy,

Test replication health all passed and only high availability test was failed and it stated that the two nodes were down in cluster. All the cluster service are running.

So far never tried with start-clusternode command but have tried with resume-clusternode before and it's not working. The error message pop up was "The remote server has been paused or is in the process of being started."

Would it because of the DAC mode enabled? Meanwhile, I'll try the start-clusternode and let you know the result as well.

Still down? Did you reboot all the servers at once? That is not typically something you would do with a DAG.

Yes still down. We rebooted it one by one but just that we did not realize the cluster node was actually down even though the database copy status was healthy for all copies. So when we try to mount to other server then we found this issue.
