The Problem: Power BI Report Server and Microsoft Fabric

I'm working on a project that involves using Power BI for data analysis and reporting. There are two options I'm considering:

1. Power BI Report Server (on-premises solution)
2. Power BI Service (cloud-based solution in Microsoft 365)

However, I came across Microsoft Fabric, an AI-powered analytics platform. I'm unsure if it's a prerequisite for using Power BI Report Server or if it's entirely separate. Fabric is not related to PowerBI Report Server and is not needed (in other words, it's separate). Similarly, to connect PowerBI Report Server to PowerBI service, you don't require Fabric.

Fabric offers unified analytics experience spanning data engineering, data science, reporting etc. We recommend starting out with Fabric for newer projects.
