After installing Big Sur, I receive the following message when I run MRD: "We couldn't connect to the remote PC. Make sure the PC is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled.
Error code: 0x204"
As a previous user, I had tried many times with "Use system proxy configuration" and "Use hardware acceleration when possible." (both on, both off or 1 on 1 off).
The version I use:
macOS Big Sur 11.0.1
Microsoft Remote Desktop: Version 10.5.0 (1841)
I would be very grateful if you could provide me a solution
PS: I still can connect to my company network through VPN (FortiClient).
I had the same issue: I did the next to solved.
Go to Microsoft Remote Desktop > preferences > General Tab> uncheck “use system proxy configurations “ and
Also uncheck “Use hardware acceleration ”
Still not working for me. MRD crashes once I press the "General Tab" in order to try to rectify as you suggested. Hope we can have a fix here very soon. Totally rely on using MRD for my work.
If you rely on a working RDP client for MacOS Big Sur I can recommend RoyalTS.
I am working with Royal TS on my Macbook Pro on a daily base without any problem (Single User Version).

If the limitations of the Royal TS Lite Version are ok for you it's free.

MS-RDP dosen't work for me after upgradeing my MAC to Big Sur. The app doesn't fully load and crashes every time I click on Preferences/General or Preferences/Resolution.
Thx man, had the same problem, and this works like a charm for me to :)
At least for me, I only needed to uncheck "Use hardware acceleration" to make it work.
I am running Microsoft Remote Desktop Version 10.4.1. without any problems on my Macbook Pro with Big Sur (11.0.1).

Could you share the download link for 10.4.1 Please for mac
Bam! Apple and Microsoft not playing well together, again.
I went and found a site with beta versions, and downloaded 10.4.1.
I would recommend you go into preferences and turn off hardware acceleration. Then it will connect to RDP servers just fine.

I'm also having RDP issues after Big Sur update. My issues is after connecting, the window rapidly "flickers" I'm running OS X 11.0.1 and RDP client 10.4.1. Turning off hardware acceleration doesn't work.
did you get a resolution to this issue? I am also not able to get it to work even after I turn of the preferences suggested in this chat.
I am on Microsoft RD 10.5.0
Most software not being from Apple does not work. I installed Royal TS, as suggested by

The problem is still there eventhough I had tried many times with "Use system proxy configuration" and "Use hardware acceleration when possible."
