Assistance Required: Disassociating from a Client's Azure Directory to Stop Receiving Alert Emails

I have been encountering an issue related to receiving multiple unsolicited emails daily, since my work with a particular client concluded. These emails often contain notifications such as "Azure: Deactivated Severity: 3 cpu greater than 60", which are not relevant to me anymore. It's crucial for me to find a solution to detach myself from the client's Azure directory or organization unit as promptly as possible.

The core of the problem lies in the continuous receipt of Azure Monitor alert emails, with messages indicating that a specific rule was triggered (e.g., "cpu greater than 60") for a service plan associated with the client's Azure subscription. An example of such an alert I received on March 12, 2024, includes detailed information about the rule ID and the resource ID tied to the client’s subscription.

Attempts to unsubscribe from these emails via the provided link have been futile, as it results in a "Wrong Url" error. This issue stems from my account being linked to the client's Azure account, a connection established several years ago for work purposes, which now needs to be severed to halt these irrelevant notifications.

Any guidance on how to effectively remove myself from the client's Azure directory to stop receiving these alert emails would be greatly appreciated.

@Jalle - Welcome to Microsoft Q&A and thanks for reaching out to us.

To remove yourself from the client's Azure directory, you need to ask the client to remove your account from their Azure Active Directory. Once your account is removed from their directory, you will no longer receive any notifications related to their Azure subscription.

If you are unable to contact the client or they are unable to remove your account from their directory, you can try the following steps:

    1. Go to the Azure portal and sign in with your account.
    2. Click on your name in the top right corner and select "Switch directory".
    3. Select "Create a new directory" and follow the prompts to create a new directory.
    4. Once the new directory is created, switch to it by clicking on your name in the top right corner and selecting "Switch directory" again.
    5. You can now remove your account from the client's directory by going to "Azure Active Directory" > "Users" and selecting your account. Click on "Delete" to remove your account from the directory.

Hope this helps. and please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
