Sccm windows update

we have majority of machines not receiving updates.

When i check under deployments for particular updates i get below varied results

Client check passed/Active - 130 machines

Same as SOAPCLIENT_SOAPFAULT - SOAP client failed because there was a SOAP fault for reasons of WU_E_PT_SOAP_* error codes. - 0X80244007 -120 machines

Unspecified errors - 20

When i check WindowsUpdate.log i get below error

FAILED [80244007] Synchronize

FAILED [80244007] SyncServerUpdatesInternal failed

When i check UpdatesDeployment log i get below error

GetUpdateInfo - failed to get targeted update, error = 0x87d00215.

the machines are able to locate the DP

Updates are distributed to all DP as there are other machines which have new updates installed.

i have pushed out new updates as well and they still hit the same issue.

i always get 0 new updates to deployed to particular machine.

Also check WSUS location in regkey in working and non working machines both are same and able to access the location

Any suggestion on what i can do?

Hi @AndyNag1-7315

Do we mean that some of the clients could not receive the update from DP? If so, we could check Content Transfer Manager.log . It schedules the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) or Server Message Block (SMB) to download or access packages.

Besides, please check CcmMessaging.log, it records activities related to communication between the client and management points.

Here is the similar post we could refer to:

how was it resolved? I am facing a similar problem.
I've already followed what is recommended here "https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/troubleshoot/mem/configmgr/error-80244007-when-wsus-client-scans-updates", but I wasn't successful.

I have 71 servers with this same status. Anyone who can suggest something?

Hey Mate,
so whenever i face the issue with SCCM and windows update below are the things that has fixed it for me. i have found its always related to SCCM and not the clients.

  1. Unselect couple of products from SCCM with regards to downloading updates for instance if you have chrome, citrix, win 8.1 etcc. uncheck chrome and citrix and run the sync. check logs. once the issue is fixed re-select those products and check again.

  2. make sure stale, expired or old updates are cleaned up from SCCM and SQL DB.

  3. Run WSUS cleanup from within the tool itself.

  4. there are couple of scripts that are available and which i run on weekly basis which does - Re-index SUSDB, Monthly cleanup of updates and deleting old updates on top of the above steps.

doing all the above steps have so far fixed my windows update issues.
hopefully this helps

Hi @AndyNag1-7315

Could you tell me how to run the wsus cleanup?

What are the scripts it runs? I have the same problem.

Thanks.

Regards.

Hey mate,

WSUS cleanup steps can be found on the web and the steps are straight forward.
WSUS doesnt run any scripts.
have you tried the above steps i have recommended?

Thank you very much, I will try the tool.

You mentioned some scripts to index the DB, do you mean WSUSutil reset ?
