Hi,
I have a Windows 2019 server with the Hyper-V role installed, everything has been working a OK for many years.
Friday just gone all hell broke out and I could not manage Hyper-V locally or remotely.
I'm seeing the below in the WMI-Activity event log:
Id = {7ED6B011-67D8-4740-84CB-9377A960DA8D}; ClientMachine = servername; User =
servername
\Administrator; ClientProcessId = 20060; Component = Unknown; Operation = Start IWbemServices::GetObject - root\virtualization\v2 : \\.\ROOT\virtualization\v2:Msvm_VirtualSystemManagementService.CreationClassName="Msvm_VirtualSystemManagementService",Name="vmms",SystemCreationClassName="Msvm_ComputerSystem",SystemName="servername"; ResultCode = 0x80041002; PossibleCause = Unknown
Along with
The server {982D78D6-4DD3-4E6F-8200-C7B2AD70B31E} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The above is the VMMS service.
Server is fully update to date. I have tried rebuilding WMI, but still the error happens.
The kicker is after the server has been up for an hour, everything is fine, with the below being logged in the event logs:
Namespace = root\virtualization\v2; NotificationQuery = SELECT * FROM __ClassOperationEvent; UserName = .\SYSTEM; ClientProcessID = 0, ClientMachine = ; PossibleCause =
Namespace = root\virtualization\v2; NotificationQuery = SELECT * FROM __InstanceCreationEvent WITHIN 2 WHERE TargetInstance ISA 'CIM_ConcreteJob'; UserName = servername\Administrator; ClientProcessID = 18272, ClientMachine = servername; PossibleCause = Temporary
