Intune Devices showing as 'not active' in compliance settings regardless of clicking 'sync'

We have a hybrid set up, with Intune MDM. I just pulled a report for all non-compliant devices and wanted to make sure that they were set to compliant. We have a user with a non-hybrid device, but intune enrolled. Intune is saying it is 'inactive' even though I know its in use. After clicking 'sync' it remains 'inactive' and the 'setting value' column says '2023-08-29 17:54:10Z'. Why is 'sync' not setting the device state to 'active'?

@Isaiah Bolden, Thanks for posting in Q&A. For the "Is active" not compliant, the related setting is "Compliance status validity period (days)". If a device fails to report its compliance status for a policy before the validity period expires, the device is treated as noncompliant.

From your description, I know you have tried to sync. But the status is still not changed. Could you check if we sync on the device side, Accounts->Access work or school, Info, Sync? Does it show successful?

However, if the sync is successful, but the status is not changed after the device check in. Please check if there's any network side issue which block it to report to Intune.

If there's any update, feel free to let us know.

The error was due to a duplicate entry. The device needed to be re-enrolled. Thank you for your time!
