Hello,

anyone know how to workround the issue with current runnbook from this training exercice: Load balance your web service traffic with Application Gateway

The script provided to setup the backend VMs do not work due to a version compatibility issue between ubuntu 22.04 and .net SDK 2.2 that seems not be able to be installed.

Based on your query we understand that you are unable to create backend virtual machines due to script issues in the exercise.

We have successfully created virtual machines from the script without any issues. Please find the screenshots provided below for your reference:

Hi Srinub,

thank you for looking at it.

I apologize my description is misleading.

The issue is not on deploying the VM: it works as per the book, VM is created and started.

The actual issue is in the deployement of the web application within the VM that is not succedding as expected when running custom script module-files/scripts/vmconfig.sh provided from

git clone https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/mslearn-load-balance-web-traffic-with-application-gateway module-files

If testing the status of the added service in the vm:

And when investigating why service is not running as expected by redoing the init script within running vm I get bellow logs

This is showing:

1/ there is an issue in installing dotnet-sdk-2.0 within ubuntu 22.04 standard image (looks very much like https://github.com/dotnet/sdk/issues/24759) -> may be upgrading to later dotnet sdk as recommended by (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/install/linux-ubuntu#supported-distributions) would fix it ?

=> Did change to 6.0 and sdk install succeeded ! But then compilation of the web app fails and I cannot investigate further why:

2/ there is another (I guess) type in the initial script as publish should copy builds to /home/user/vehicleapp/published folder rather than /home/user/vehicleapp/vehicles/published as stated
