Dear Team,

I am currently doing the intermediate supply chain course on my work profile and have noticed that there are overlaps between not just the advanced and intermediate Supply Chain Courses but also the Dynamics 365 Finance course.

Specifically, the following modules are overlapping between the intermediate and the advanced course (I have included some pictures of the same):

  1. Create products and product masters in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management"
  2. Create bill of materials in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management"
  3. Set up versioned products in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management"
  4. Work with the costing sheet in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management"
  5. Use warehouse management for manufacturing in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management"
  6. Schedule work orders in Asset Management for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management"
  7. Configure and perform the procure-to-purchase process in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management"
  8. Configure and use agreements in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management"
  9. Set up Master Planning in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management"
  10. Use master planning in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management"

And the module, "Set up accounts receivable in Dynamics 365 Finance" is overlapped from the D365 Finance portion. Going through that page as well does not show any relation it may have to supply chain (which is also not present in the learning guide).

Please advise me on whether these modules are included and necessary to do and whether they appear on the Intermediate Test for Supply Chain as well.

    Hi Nihar Saxena,

Thanks for reaching out to us on the Microsoft Q&A forum.

We agree that many modules overlap in the learn paths. While this might seem repetitive at first, it actually shows how closely connected supply chain management and finance are in the Dynamics 365 system.

Take for example, modules like 'Set up accounts receivable in Dynamics 365 Finance' and 'Configure and perform the procure-to-purchase process in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management'. Even though they seem to be from different areas, they are connected in real-world situations. Understanding how buying processes affect financial transactions and vice versa is important for managing the entire supply chain.

Similarly, modules like 'Create products and product masters' and 'Set up Master Planning' are basic to both supply chain operations and financial planning. By learning these concepts in both courses, students get a full picture of how decisions in one area impact the other.

Repetitive, having overlapping modules helps reinforce the logical flow and connection of ideas in the Dynamics 365 system.

    I hope you understand!
