According to this blog post , you need to enable the logs: Navigate to your Windows Web App and select the "App Service Logs" option under the "Monitoring" section in the left pane. Toggle the "Application Logging (Filesystem)" option to On ... Do you see this setting? If needed, refresh the page to be sure the setting is picked up. If the response helped, do "Accept Answer". If it doesn't work, please let us know the progress. All community members with similar issues will benefit by doing so. Your contribution is highly appreciated.

i have already enabled logs, actually 4 days ago i am able to see logs but now i am unable to see logs and its happening in my all servers

Just to rule some things out...

Could it be some administrator has limited your access rights or role?

Have you tried to open the page in a InPrivate/Incognito browser to check if the portal works as expected?

I have owner access on this account and I have tried it in InPrivate/Incognito also but it still shows me error, i am very surprise that 4 days ago i can see logs but not now, 2 days ago there is some UI change in portal, is this affect log stream?

I too have lost access to Log Stream for one of my functions with a warning that says this feature needs write permissions..., all the rest of my functions log streams seem to be fine, this only effects one function, naturally it's a critical one. I've followed this here but it didn't help me as the settings were as stated already, I've also updated my Application Insights SDK to the latest version, that too did not help.

I had this same issue. I had enabled File System logging, and Log Stream was working. Then on an app restart it gave me the "requires write permission" error. I logged out of Azure portal and back in (no change to App Service Logs setings, and it's working. This is too fragile for a production system!

Just to confirm, for the one app displaying this error, which region is it hosted in?
Start to reproduce the issue, capture and review the network trace for any specific errors/ I'll also relay this feedback internally to our product team.

My app is hosted in US East 2. The "requires write permission" issue has come back once or twice.

Same here! It started to happen some days ago. I use a debug slot and started happening there (in the production slot I can see it normal)

DDR, Thanks for the follow-up. As I understand the issue is intermittent, I'm checking on this further. If it's fine, could you please share your WebApp name? also, when you are able to reproduce the issue, review the network trace/logs, and share the error details.

I have the same issue - they worked fine yesterday!

I have disabled, then re-enabled app service logs

I still get the message "This feature requires write permission to your app."

I did upgrade my service from B1 Basic to Standard today (trying to use auto profiling diagnose a an occasional request performance issue). TBH thing havent been good since then!

To provide an update, for multiple user reports here.

For the error : "this feature requires write permission to your app" - Our product team is working on removing the permissions banner which is being incorrectly displayed (UX), I’ll share any updates with you as soon as they are available.

As a workaround, you may query from the App Insights component itself to which the app is linked.

The error retrieving host status is specific to app issue, which needs closer investigation for individual apps.
