Do I need to create a separate API endpoint for my developer portal even with an existing custom domain?

Hello, I have configured a custom domain gateway endpoint associated with my Azure API Management service. My HTTP requests in the developer portal are working properly with the new custom gateway, but I want to change the URL of my developer portal overall for more user-friendliness. Can I use the same endpoint that I defined for my gateway for the developer portal, or do I need to obtain an entirely different domain for my developer portal? If I can use the same domain, how can I do it? I followed this article to configure the custom domain that I currently have. Would I just need to change the "type" to developer portal?

Ben Gimblett 3,415 Reputation points Microsoft Employee2024-05-17T11:21:06.04+00:00 Hi - as per the link you cited APIM gives you the possibility of adding a custom name (something more friendly) for all the default endpoints including the dev portal endpoint
It is common to use a subdomain for this
e.g.Contoso's Gateway could be named "api.contoso.com" and Developer Portal could be "developer.contoso.com" .
But equally the developer portal could be "portal.contosoapis.com" (a different domain)
It should not matter but you would need to configure the correct SSL certificate for each custom name added
