If they are what you want when you create a new document...

First, save a backup copy of the problem document just in case.

    1. Go to the Developer Tab in the problem document and click on the Document Template button.
    2. Make sure the Attached Template is Normal.dotm.
    3. Check the box under that to update styles from the template.
    4. OK your way back to your document.
    5. Save and close the document.
    6. Open the document again.
    7. Go back to that Templates dialog and uncheck the box.
    8. Save your document.
    9. The document now will have all of the default styles from your Normal.dotm.

If this changed some styles you did not want changed, write back. (That is why we saved the copy.)

Another possibility is to (re-)apply your favorite Quick Style set via the Design tab in Word.
