Unable to expose PCI interface to VM after enabling Accelerated Networking.

Hi Community,

I have a custom VM with Ubuntu 20.04, i have enabled Accelerated networking in interface and attached as secondary interface in VM (VM size is Standard_D4s_v3/tried with Standard_D8s_v4 as well). I have reinstalled the Mellanox driver to latest and disabled NetworkManager, still i cannot see the VF interface in 'ifconfig' or 'lspci'. Not sure what i am missing. Tried lot of troubleshooting steps, no luck. I have seen below message in dmesg, but no logs related to VF after that

hv_netvsc 6045bdcb-be8f-6045-bdcb-be8f6045bdcb eth1: VF slot 2 added

Anybody have luck in enabling SR-IOV in custom ubuntu images ?, what steps you have taken

I see you are in the process of Adding multiple IP addresses to virtual machines.

Is there any specific reason you mentioned interface is not visible post enabling Accelerated Networking?

Does this mean the issue does not occur when the primary NIC is not configured with Accelerated Networking?

Generally, you have to configure the OS to support the additional IP Addresses.

Please follow the steps that better suits your distrOS.

I have no issues with my synthetic interfaces, i can see both interfaces in VM and both are working fine even after enabling Accelerated networking. My issue is, i am unable to take advantage of the feature 'Accelerated Networking'. I can't see the VF interface added to the VM. I am working with high speed data transfers. For a working accelerated networking, the VM will have some interface 'enPxxxx' added to VM and will have a PCI address. In my VM, this interface is not getting added, my application need PCI address for faster processing

Thanks for the info.

I see you are using a custom image.

I believe this could be because of a driver missing or is misconfigured.

Since you are using a custom image, I believe we will need a specialized 1:1 session, where a support engineer can access the backend logs of your subscription/VM to pinpoint the issue.
