I disconnected the work school accounts so that the device no longer shows in entra id and intune portal. I want to "join this device to microsoft entra id". I get the error something went wrong 8018000a "THIS DEVICE IS ALREADY ENROLLED" when it isn't! It is a windows 10 PC.

In the Settings app, navigate to Accounts > Access work or school. Check if you've your account listed there. If it is there, click Disconnect and follow on-screen instructions and make sure to reboot system to complete process.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

I agree with @Kapil Arya 's answer, and there are a few more points that I would like to add. You can try:

If the device has ever been connected to another Microsoft 365 tenant, make sure it has been removed or logged out from that tenant. Only devices registered in one tenant can successfully connect to another tenant.

Log in to the Azure portal, then navigate to "Azure Active Directory">"Devices" to view the device list. Make sure your device is not displayed here. If it is, please delete it.

Ensure that your Microsoft 365 subscription includes an Intune license and that you have permission to connect your device to Azure Active Directory.

    Best regards,

    Jill Zhou

    Hi @Peter Attwood
    Thank you for post!

I understand that you are unable join your Windows 10 PC to Microsoft Entra ID and you are receiving an error message saying that the device is already enrolled.

For our issue, we can try to delete all GUIDs under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Enrollments to see if it can be enrolled.

Note: Make sure to NOT delete Context, Ownership, Status and ValidNodePaths.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.

    Thanks,
    Akhilesh
