Outlook 2019 several options unticked every other time profile is launched

I noticed that I could not find certain items in my Sent Items folder the other day. I discovered that Outlook 2019 / Options / Mail / Save Message / 'Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder' was unticked. So of course I re-ticked that option and it worked. Then I noticed this option becomes unticked every other time you launch Outlook. Then I finally noticed that there are about 20+ options that actually become unticked as well when this happens (not sending mail immediately when clicking send, not marking mail as read when highlighted, etc). But every other time I open a profile, the options are mysterious ticked again.

  • have 3 Outlook profiles and they all seem to be doing this.

  • did a full repair of Office 2019.

  • deleted and recreated 1 profile.
    -Outlook 2019 connects to Exchange 2019 On Prem.

  • am running Windows 10 2004 and Office 2019 has no more updates available (16.0.13328.20334).

Did this issue only happen to you? Could other users in your organization work normally?

If the issue only happens to you, I judge it may be more related to your client. Based on my tests on the same version of Outlook 2019 as you, these options wouldn't be changed automatically when I turn off or turn on Outlook. Also, these setting(such as "Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder") actually depend on client itself and could be synced to other Outlook profiles, so it's normal that the issue could be reproduced on other profiles.

As I know, there's no option that could cause the client unchecks some options automatically in Outlook, considering you have troubleshooted it through many methods, I would give you some suggestions in other aspects:

  • In order to avoid the interference of other programs, please try to perform a clean boot in Windows to check if your Outlook could work normally.

  • If that's invalid, corrupted register key may also cause the client couldn't work, it's suggested to rename your Outlook key to Outlook1(location: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook), and restart your Outlook client to test if the issue has any difference.

  • If the issue still exists, I'm afraid that your client may be corrupted and it couldn't be resolved by the normal repair, so please try to uninstall and re-install your office to check.(Control Panel>Programs and features> right-click the office>uninstall)

Have the same issue with Outlook 2019 as part of Office 2019 Home & Business NL-version.
Installed version of Outlook 2019 is 16.0.13901.20462.

Solutions 1 and 2 did not work.
Solution 3 (uninstall and reinstall) did work, with help of Microsoft Support (Case #:1021386123)

After a couple of days the issue reappeared.
Any idea how to solve this?

Problem seems to be solved:
- made notes of all installation related settings I wanted to keep (history, e-mail accountsettings of each emailaddress, signatures, etc.) from Word, Excel and Outlook
- manually uninstalled my run-and-click installation of office (guided by https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/manually-uninstall-office-4e2904ea-25c8-4544-99ee-17696bb3027b?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US)
- click-and-run installation of office
