ActiveSync contacts and organization on a company level

Hi,

we use some old concept that dates to the dark ages where we have a Public Folder, and there we have like a phone contact list from all of our employees. This list must be manually copied into our own outlook365 client, and only then will this be synced on our mobile phones (Android & iOS).
However, when one employee leave the company, nobody deletes him/her from the outlook address book, they stay there for ever.

How did you guys solve this? What software are you using? Can it be done over O365 somehow?

Cheers!

Use the Outlook Mobile App and the GAL is simply available by default. All you have to do is enter someone's name and hit search. If they arent in your local contacts, it will also check the Global Address List when you click "See More" : )

Hi AndyDavid,

normally our colleagues use native apps for e-mail. iOS = native Mail app, and for Androids since we have only Samsung and Huawei, we use Samsung Mail app. Huawei idk. I use Outlook regardless since i am used to it from private use. You are correct it will display all the users when you use the search function, but this had to be used inside of an app. Not sure if my colleges will like this (they won't). They need to be able to select the contact from the phone.

Cheers

For the native Mail apps you mentioned, they don't have GAL in Contacts?

For example, when using IOS device, go to Contacts-Groups, can you see the Exchange Global Address Lists in the botton like this?
44743-3.png If yes, go to this GAL and see if you can search those users that you needed to sync.

For Android devices, try to find Exchange GAL similarly as steps above.

Hi,

On iOS Device it works, but on Android it showed me ActiveSync but only two contacts from my company which is far from the actual number.
I am thinking that the problem could be in my device. I will test on another if it works.

Thank you, i will accept your answer.
