Duplicate Work and Personal Account

It seems that Microsoft has both a Work and a Personal account for me with the same address.
When I log in to https://myaccount.microsoft.com I can chose work or personal.
Same email address.
Different password for Work and for personal.

This is causing me a lot of grief with Office 365 and OneDrive. I am unable to share my account with my spouse because in OneDrive it "thinks" it is a work account.

I would like to remove the work account but am concerned this will impact my personal files.

I have searched support and the internet to no avail.

    Simplest may be to add an alias to your personal account and make that alias primary.

    As DSPatrick said, you could add an alias to your Personal account.

    Does your Work and Personal account have same domain? user@Company portal .com for both work and personal.

    If you have the same domain while logging, you might have the work account kept as primary in your personal account. For that keep your outlook account as primary and delate the work account which will be secondary. Delating from alias will not hamper your files.

    We had one client having same issue and did the same process and did manage to solve.
