No Owner is Found in my VM

Hi there,

first off, I'm just new to VM and just trying out my luck to setup a VM so I can test the compliance policies I created in Intune.
I noticed that the device ownership was set to None even I already assigned it to myself. Been trying to figure out why but couldn't find a solution. Attached is the screenshot of what I'm pertaining to.![45882-deviceowner-none.png][1]

Second is about the policy, why is my deployment status in all the policies I created was set to Not Applicable.![45797-depstatus.png][2]

Hoping that someone can help me out. Thank you so much in advance.

@JBanesLanzaderas-2678, From your description, it seems there are two issues in our environment.
Issue 1: Device owner is none in Azure AD portal for VM device.
Issue 2: Policy shows not applicable for one device.

To help our customer in a more efficient way, we only focus on issue in a thread. In this thread, we will mainly focus on the first issue. For the second issue, based on my experience, it can be that the device does not meet the requirement of the policy we configure. We can check it in our official document to double confirm. If the issue still persists, we suggest to open a new thread.

For the first issue, could you confirm the following information with us:
1. Is this an Autopilot device? When did we assign user? Is it before the enrollment or after the enrollment?
2. When check the device status in Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center, can we see the Primary user and enrolled by information under the device?

Thanks!

Hi Crystal.

Is this an Autopilot device? When did we assign user? Is it before the enrollment or after the enrollment?

Yes it's an AutoPilot - I did try before and after enrollment both has the same issue.

When check the device status in Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center, can we see the Primary user and enrolled by information under the device?
Yes, both showing under my name.

I couldn't send you a screenshot for now since I had to reset, redeploy my VM and now I think I mess with it more. VM is not rebooting. :(

@JBanesLanzaderas-2678, From your description, it seems the VM is Azure VM. Could you confirm on this?

If it is referring to Azure VM devices, according to official docs, I find Windows Autopilot aren't support for Azure VMs.

We can see more details in the following link:

Hope it can help.

Thanks for that it makes sense now for the OOBE and AutoPilot. However, I can still test policies using my VM, right? How can I do it if the policy status is not Applicable. my VM OS is Win10 Pro.

@JBanesLanzaderas-2678,For the policy iisue, could you collect the following information to us to clarify?
1. Did the issue also occurs on other devices which is enrolled with other enrollment method like BYOD?
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/enrollment/windows-enrollment-methods
2. What is the policy we set? Could you get a screen shot of the settings?

Thanks and I look forward to your reply.
