I kinda like my new Surface Book, maybe, but the ads from Edge ("have you done your holiday shopping yet?") on the splash page every time I restart (before even logging in) are pushing me over the Edge. I have turned off all the tips and tricks, notifications etc, and renamed the edge folder in Programs, yet the pestering ads still show up every time. Please help me use this $3000 new computer without getting pissed off and passionately hating Microsoft every time I boot up...

The login screen does not only show Edge but also other " windows suggestions". Just change lock screen wallpaper from windows spotlight to your own image.
To turn off Windows Spotlight locally, go to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen > Background > Windows spotlight > select a different lock screen background
