Authenticator App on Iphone - How to restore an account I removed by mistake - Help

I removed one of my two accounts on my personal Iphone Authenticator App and now when I try to login to my office 365 tenant I prompted to approve the authentication and I cannot because the account is not there.

How can I restore my account? When I try to manually add the account, enter my email and password, it says Microsoft Account does not exist! But I know my account is there. When I try to use other options it asked for a code.

Also if I am not able to fix the issue myself and needs to be done by the Microsoft tech, where in Azure portal AD he needs to disable the security 2 factor? I know my MFA is disabled because I never enabled it.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Yes. That's right, but you need to have admin right to do so.

FYI refer to the link below.

Thank you for your detailed post! If you have access to your AzureAD tenant within the Azure Portal, you can try setting up the Authenticator App again.

Azure Portal -> Azure Active Directory -> User -> Select your desired user -> Authentication methods -> Select "Require re-register MFA"

Navigate to aka.ms/mfasetup -> Select "Next" and sign-in to go through the entire set up process again

If you don't have access to the Azure Portal, you can always run the Set-MsolUser StrongAuthenticationMethods command to re-require MFA:

 Set-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName admin_mydomain.com#EXT#@mydomain.onmicrosoft.com -StrongAuthenticationMethods @()

I never enabled or enforced my MFA in Azure portal. But Authenticator app had setup 2 factor Authentication for me.

I was told I said yes to strong security during my laptop setup and accepted 2 factor with my phone. I was also told I can disable it in Azure portal/properties/default security/ select NO.

Is this true?

Thank you!
