How to rollback a migrated VM with Azure Migrate

Good morning,

Is there any way to rollback VMs that were migrated to Azure with Azure Migrate? The VMs were originally on an on-premise vCenter...

Thank you!

@wvelez When you say rollback with Azure Migrate, Am assuming you're talking about failback of Azure VMs to On-premise. If my understanding is correct, this is not supported with Azure Migrate. Failover and Failback are Azure Site Recovery concepts. For more details, see this link - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/site-recovery/failover-failback-overview

@SadiqhAhmed-MSFT what are the options to rollback\failback to On-Prem in case the customer is not happy being on cloud?

@Abhi-1823 Only way I’m aware is to download VHDs from Azure and convert them back to VMDK, probably easier to use VMWare converter to create new VMs out of those VHDs.. Did it a couple of times and no issues, just manual work and down time of server because all is done offline. You can look into 3rd-party offerings – there is no additional native functionality otherwise.

Hi,

Q&A currently supports the products listed in right-hand pane (more to be added later on)

You can reach the experts in the dedicated Azure Migrate forum over here:
