I have an anti-virus installed on the host. Based on Microsoft KB https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/virtualization/vm-missing-0x800704c8-0x80070033-0x800703e3#:~:text=If%20virtual%20machines%20are%20missing,configuration%20file%20was%20likely%20corruptedos, is it true that anti virus might be responsible for it?
Yes, that is a possibility. The AV vender may also have more detailed info about this.

Hi,
Please try to restart the VMMS service, check if the VMs will reappear.
Thanks for your time!

Anne

None of it is working. I have restored from the backup. My host is install with an anti virus and at the moment, the vhd is missing and nothing appear in my hyper v console. Can I know what went wrong
the vhd is missing
Sounds like either some file system corruption or possibly disk failure.

Hi... but I will need a Microsoft tech to confirm what went wrong?
If that's what you wanted then you can start a case here with product support.

Hi... I don’t have a support id... cause I’m asking as there is a Microsoft kb for missing vm and the root cause is the anti virus. Hence, I will want to confirm it. Thanks
What you have described is the XML configuration file and the VHD both have been deleted from system. Seems unlikely that AV is responsible. More than likely some user is responsible.
