Azure sql managed instance filegroup

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/t-sql/statements/alter-database-transact-sql-file-and-filegroup-options?view=azuresqldb-mi-current&preserve-view=true

May I know if the file in the 2nd filegroup are stored in the same storage account?

@sakuraime

We have received the tentative answer "only a single Premium Storage Account is associated with a Managed Instance." but we are still further confirming this with our Product team.

@sakuraime

Can you please convey what is the use case here. The Azure SQL server handles this internally. Please convey the premises behind the ask to take this further.

is it every file (mdf) store in a single premium disk ?

@sakuraime

We did check with our team and got the following answer:

"The answer is that we don’t document how we physically store files (whether they are on the primary or a user defined filegroup) for Managed Instance except that for General Purpose we use Azure Blob Storage and for Business Critical we use local SSD storage."

These are handled internally for all the PaaS services. Additionally if the concern is failure of disk, rest assured that Azure takes care of ensuring the safety of the data.

Hope this helps.
