accessing azure atp

I can not access to azure atp portal and get an error such"admin@.onmicrosoft.com does not have permission to access this page".But the account role is global admin.I suppose it happens because of demo tenant. Is it possible to reach out that portal with demo account? I am using M365 Enterprise MDATP Lite content pocket.

Thank you for your post!

When it comes accessing the Azure ATP Portal, you have to log in with a user assigned to an Azure Active Directory security group with access to the Defender for Identity portal. For more information about role-based access control (RBAC) in Defender for Identity, see Working with Defender for Identity role groups.

Hi James,

Thank you for your help.I have assiged Security administrator role to the user additional to Global administrator role.Unfortunately ,the problem still remains although access to the portal is included role's permissions. Is it possible that this problem take place due to the demo tenant?

Thank you for the quick response!

  • When you say demo tenant, what do you mean by that?

  • Is this a sandbox type of tenant which you created via MS learn?

  • Is this tenant used solely for demo/testing purposes?

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the link and additional info!

It's fairly likely that because you're using a demo tenant per the Microsoft Customer Digital Experience site, this could be blocking your access to the AzureATP portal. Have you tried accessing this portal with any other tenant? Or only this demo tenant?

I'd also recommend reaching out to our Microsoft Defender for Identity community regarding this issue since our Defender for Identity team is active on that forum. For more info.
