Windows Update Error (0xc80003fa)

I just installed a fresh version of Windows 10 Home with newest version.
Windows update throws an error 0xc80003fa and troubleshoot does not work as well. I tried the "sfc /scannow" and the DISM options written in other threads as well. I tried wuauclt.exe /updatenow and tried stopping the services net stop wuauserv/bits/cryptsrv and deleted the catroot2 and also the SoftwareDistribution\datastore.. and restarted the services. Booted and all.. nothing seems to get the Windows Update up and running.. I have reinstalled several time and create new installations as well.. but no luck.
Please support..

Have you resolved the issue? I have a Dell OptiPlex 5250 AIO that's getting exactly the same errors and i've tried all of the same steps:
Replace RAM, HDD, and even sent the whole machine back to dell to get the motherboard replace. It came back today with a clean install of windows 10 and the error persists. I would love to know if this ever gets fix and if it's a driver that's preventing the update process or what?

No, not fixed.. funny though. It runs on linux without any problems..
I think it is a hardware combination issue.
When i move the disk to another motherboard / cpu kombination it works without problems.

Method 1: Run the Windows Update troubleshooter to fix the issue. It makes sure that your computer is connected to the Internet, and checks to see whether your network adapter and Windows Update services are running correctly.

  • Open the Windows Update troubleshooter

Method 2: If the above method does not help then you may follow the article mentioned below and check.

  • Temporary connection-related errors may occur when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update

Hi,

Replacing critical hardware will result in inactive system. After using new hardware, you may have to reactive your system. Please make sure that your system is activated to get updates. If you don't mind, please post the screenshot of the result here

  • Run cmd as administrator

  • Type slmgr /dlv and press enter

I understand that troubleshooting is exhausting. But please try method 2 and 3 in How to fix Error with code 0x80240004 and the accepted answer in Update error 0xC80003FA.

You can also try to enable automatic update in registry and group policy.

Sorry again for costing you so much time on this issue.

Hi,

Thank you for all the troubleshooting you've tried and I'm sorry for the trouble that our product brought to you.

I'd like to know more details about this error

  • Did this error happen when you were trying to install the newest version of Windows 10 or after you've gotten the newest version of Windows 10?

  • Which reinstallation method you've tried? ISO, USB, or anything else?

  • What's your current OS version? The newest version for Windows 10 is 20H2. Have you tried updating to 2004 then update from 2004 to 20H2?

  • Have you tried reset this PC then perform the update? Please back up all your data.

Tried it in several installations.. in H220, 2004 1909 and 1809.. all throws this error.. and when the changes are done, then it throws new error: 0x80240004
Further the troubleshooting is not working in any installations.
I also tried new hardware: new GPU, RAM, Disk. Installed the latest bios on MB and found newest drivers for all hardware.. Also tried resetting and re-installing through the windows tools as well..
Still not possible to run windows update.

Hello,

Try to reset Windows Update components and see if that helps:

Let us know if this helps!
