[WOPI] Cells displayed incorrectly with "Accounting Number Format" styling applied. "RestrictedWebViewOnly" issue.

We've noticed an issue with displaying cells in read only mode.
Cells using "Accounting Number Format" styling are not displayed correctly.

What we do is set ReadOnly and RestrictedWebViewOnly in CheckFileInfo to true.
When the file is loaded it wrongly displays ###### instead of the actual value. You can click on the cell and see the actual value inside the formula bar, but there it also has the currency symbol which is not shown when viewing the cell in Excel application or loading the file with RestrictedWebViewOnly set to false.

The only way to view the contents of the cell is by adjusting the width to an extreme value. For example a width of 1000 pixels is needed to display a value of 4.00

When loading the file with "RestrictedWebViewOnly = false" then everything works as expected.

Is there a known issue with this formatting type or custom formats in general when loading an Excel file as read only/RestrictedWebViewOnly?

We were able to reproduce this issue on Sharepoint/OneDrive when sharing Excel workbooks with with the “Read-only” and “Block download enabled” parameter set.

Hi Pepijn,
Can you share a file that has this display issue or give repro steps on how to create an Excel file that shows this error?

Thanks,

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your response!

Of course.
Repro file: https://file.io/ANAztct7eMnf
Columns F and H are affected due to number formatting style set to "Accounting".
That's how you can create an Excel file with the same error, just apply number formatting "Accounting" to any column or cell.

Best,
Pepijn

Hi Pepijn,

I'm not seeing the same formatting issues when I open this file. Can you send me the build of WOPI that you're using, your checkFileInfo response, and a fiddler trace of the request.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi @Pepijn-9712 ,
You mentioned you use WOPI for Office Online, however the openspecs-office tag is for questions about Office Online Server product deployments, not Office for the Web (formerly known as Office 365) product (cloud). For Office for the Web integration questions please direct your posts to the Yammer group provided by the Cloud Storage Partner Program. For more information on that program, please refer to Office Cloud Storage Partner Program.
