Unify Caleneder Teams & Exchange2016

Hello

I have to configure modern authentication in order to have a unify calender between exchange 2016 and MS team

I have already existing users on the cloud , i will use adconnect to match the users.

My users online have license with EXO , shall i disable it before we start the process for configure the modern authentication and add the spns to my azure ad?

what is the impact for delete the EXO license.

Note , my all mailboxes onprimise and the mailboxes on the cloud not used at all but i have doubt when i uncheck the license for EXO it will delete all the data for MS Teams.

My question shall i delete the EXO license in order to configure the modern authentication and unify the calendrer between onpromise and Exchange 2016?

Hi @yasserMohamedAbdelMoneim-0269 ,
1. Based on my knowledge, if you delete the EXO license, all that user's data is held for 30 days. You can access the data, or restore the account if the user comes back. After 30 days, all the user's data (except for documents stored on SharePoint Online) is permanently deleted from Microsoft 365 and can't be recovered. It’s same as the date of Microsoft Teams, it will keep for 30 days, then permanently delete.
For more information you could refer to: Remove and delete the Microsoft 365 license from a former employee
2.How will you configure modern authentication? According to my research, you don’t need to delete the EXO license, and if you run the Hybrid Configuration wizard, it will automatically configures OAuth between on-premises Exchange and EXO. But please make sure that the on-premises Exchange is running on the latest CU.
For more information you could refer to: Configuring Teams calendar access for Exchange on-premises mailboxes

Below screenshot is the test in my Exchange Hybrid lab environment, I create a meetings in the on-premises user mailbox and I could view it in Microsoft teams.

Hi @yasserMohamedAbdelMoneim-0269 ,
Is there any relationship between your on-premises mailbox and the mailbox on Exchange online?
Generally, whether your mailbox in Exchange Online is used or not has no effect on the use of the on-premises mailbox. But please make sure you have at least one Office 365 account that has Global Administrator permissions, which will be required when running HCW and will help you manage Exchange online in the future.
