All our Server 2019 1809 17763.1397 servers report as Hyper-V server in Winver

This is probably a total nothing functionally but I'm mystified by why every server 2019 host I can find reports as Hyper-V Server 2019 in winver. A quick google search shows lots of winver screenshots of 1809 servers that DON'T say Hyper-V. We have no Hyper-V features listed in the roles list of these servers. Some were hand installed, some were from an image. Some are using standard license, some datacenter. All are VMware guests. We have very little Hyper-V around.

Does anybody have an idea what winver keys off of to determine this? Was this a recent update that flags every server as Hyper-V?

Not sure where I got 17763.1397. Looks like we're mostly at 17763.1637 but it probably doesn't change the situation much.

I just saw that same - Windows Server 2019 on VMware (Workstation). It shows Windows Hyper-V Server 2019 in winver. If I create a (standard) user and login with that user, then it says Windows Server 2019 (not Windows Hyper-V Server 2019). Did you found out, what the 'problem' was?

Those are just the patch level differences.

Sure that was apparent to me but I did wonder if some quirk with that very specific patch level could be the reason we see this. Thanks for posting your winver.

That is a possibility. I don't think I ever looked at it back in August.

Not seeing that here. This one is a hyper-v guest domain controller.

It's me. So strange. My manager logs into the same servers I do and see Windows Server 2019 in winver. I see Hyper-V server. Something in my AD info is triggering it.

I'm done thinking about this. It's a curiosity.

Thanks all.

Change the DPI from 175% to 150% and it's ok again. The error occurs when the client accesses the RDP session with 175% DPI.
