EDGE: File was blocked because this type of file can harm your device

Question

Using Edge Chromium ver. 88.0.705.68 when trying to download a filename.jlnp file from a server inside our organization we are prompted with the following message. Is there a way to stop this message from coming up and downloading the automatically?

they have to let smart people adjust and change these restrictions
I will not googling for 4 hours to be able to use the browser normally

Yes, there is a way to stop this message.

I suggest you try to set the Disable download file type extension-based warnings for specified file types on domains group policy.

You can enable this policy to create a dictionary of file type extensions with a corresponding list of domains that will be exempted from file type extension-based download warnings. This lets enterprise administrators block file type extension-based download warnings for files that are associated with a listed domain.

For example, if the "jnlp" extension is associated with "website1.com", users would not see a warning when downloading "jnlp" files from "website1.com", but see a download warning when downloading "jnlp" files from "website2.com".

Sample value for this policy:

Issue still exists in Version 91.0.864.41 (Official build) (64-bit) Workaround works for old Dell IDRACs but not for new DELL IDRAC 9

Even with the Registry set:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\ExemptDomainFileTypePairsFromFileTypeDownloadWarnings

we also tried to exclude ".crdownload" because the downloaded temporary files were created in downloadfolder "Unconfirmed 339791.crdownload"

Any Ideas?

Dell Support only tests with Basic Edge Settings and could reproduce the error, they sent us Links to this Site and to the Documentation and asked to contact MS Support.

@pede83 , I was able to solve this in Edge Chromium v91 by locally testing the syntax via registry edits live within the Policies subkey. Much faster than using GPMC to test, especially when AGPM is in play. It looks to me as though Microsoft's recommended syntax on the web and in documentation is either hyper-sensitive, or simply not documented thoroughly enough.

I took out the outer braces referenced on learn.microsoft.com as there is only one setting we want for now, and we also put file_extension first in line with their documentation.

How does this work? If it does, how many documents does Microsoft need to clarify or update (or how many more examples should be shown)?
