Hi all,

one of virtual machine windows 2012 OS and constantly gets ntfs error below.
A corruption was discovered in the file system structure on volume \?\Volume{c84fea69-0000-0000-0000-501f00000000}.The Master File Table (MFT) contains a corrupted file record. The file reference number is 0x2000000019523. The name of the file is "<unable to determine file name>".
But, the volume GUID shown in ntfs 55 error does not match any disk GUID.

if it does not match, no disk involved? it could due to backup. it always happens at backup schedule.

Thank you for your help!

    Hi,

Volume and disk are two separate concepts. Disk is physical, such as a HDD or a SSD. Volume is logical. There might be multiple volumes on one disk. For more information, please see Device vs Partition vs File System vs Volume: how do these concepts relate to each other, accurately

So your disk is OK. No hardware corruption. To troubleshoot NTFS 55, please check whether this link helps, Windows – How to Debug NTFS Disk Corruption Event ID 55
