My Minecraft mods aren't working

So, I decided to download mods for Java Edition on Windows 10. I did everything that was asked - I downloaded Java, I downloaded Forge 1.12.2, and I downloaded the Dragon Mounts mod (the latest version) from Curseforge. I made a mods folder (lowercase letters with no spaces) in my .minecraft folder. I booted up Forge and... the mod wasn't there at all. I've looked everywhere, but everybody has told me the same thing - I hope I did everything right.
