Corrupt VHDX file after power failure of Hyper-V Host

Hello, I have one VM that didn't come back after a power failure on the Hyper-V Host. Windows thinks it's a directory even though it's a file. I also have no permissions and can't take ownership of it.:

CHKDSK /F is clean
SFC /SCANNOW is clean

This file is the C drive of a database server but the other VHDX files are fine. I also have backups. I am curious if you've seen this before and if there was a quick resolution to it before I got through restore process.

Thank you

Hi,

Do you mean the C drive of the database server changed to be a VHDX file of the VM after a power failure? This behavior is strange, if we are unable to recovery it, it's recommended to restore it from the backup.

Thanks for your time!

Anne

The VHDX file (C partition of DB server) was corrupted and only visible to Windows as a directory with no permissions. I restored from backup so all is well.
