I understand that ADLS gen2 will not be supporting ADLA. What is not clear to me is whether existing ADLA accounts will continue to function in any capacity at all after the gen1 retirement. Thanks.

@ThomasPrice-1694 Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!
Thanks for your query. As mentioned in the official documentation, Suggest you to migrate data to ADLS Gen2 and also upgrade to supported technologies such as Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure HDInsight

ADLA (Azure Data Lake Analytics) is not supported on ADLS Gen2 today, given we are not investing in ADLA, we do recommend customers migrate ADLA to an alternate framework such as Azure HDInsight, Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Databricks. If you are interested in learning more, kindly email us at ADLSGen1toGen2MigrationQA@service.microsoft.com
Please see this announcement and FAQs Azure Data Lake Storage Gen1 - Retirement Announcement for more details.
I see that you have commented on the post as well. As mentioned, please send an email at ADLSGen1toGen2MigrationQA@service.microsoft.com with your queries and team will address all of your queries.
Do let us know if you need further help in this regard.
Could you please answer my question using less ambiguous language? When you say "suggest" it's not clear whether this is mandatory or merely preferable. We unfortunately do not have the resources to rewrite our code that depends on ADLA so it's important that I have a clear answer to this. I tried sending an email to ADLSGen1toGen2MigrationQA@service.microsoft.com but I got a response with "The group ADLSGen1toGen2MigrationQA isn't set up to receive messages from <my email address>".

Hello @ThomasPrice-1694 ,
My sincere apoloziges for the delay on my side . I just got a response from the internal team and I same sharing the same below .
Once ADLS Gen1 is retired, the existing ADLA accounts won’t continue to function on ADLS Gen1. Given we are not investing in ADLA, we do recommend customers migrate ADLA to an alternate Azure analytics service, such as Azure Synapse analytics, Azure Data Factory, HDInsight, etc.. We are currently working on supporting ADLA on ADLS Gen2 to support our customers’ migration cycle, we will share more information on this in the next few months.
Please do let me know if youi any further queries .
Thanks
Himanshu
