It is safe to perform Active Directory 2012 Decommission even if they have File Server installed ?

Hello Experts!

It is safe to Demote a AD2012 together w/ the DNS role even if they have a File Server installed on same server ?

I'm am aware that it will required downtime on Files Server due to Rebooting once we perform a demotion and removing AD Role in the server.

Assuming there are other domain controllers for same domain it should not be a problem. Just remember to point the DNS to another healthy domain controller on connection properties.

Hi,
It will not effect the File Server role when you demote a DC.
Just make sure the FSMO roles were transferred successfully and there are other DCs working as DNS servers.
